CBAB have applied for a part time Co-ordinator & Development post which would support young people and youth initiatives in the community whilst also providing wider community benefit which fits into supporting and developing rural services & facilities on the island.
The coordinator would be the key in supporting, consulting, developing and working in partnership with local organisations to ensure that youth initiatives would be supported and developed which leave a legacy for future young people and the wider community for years to come. This coordinator would also act as the key person to help develop new projects and secure funds for feasibilities, ground works and future staffing costs. The co-ordinator would also help support other development projects which would benefit young people and the wider community such as the creation of an All Weather Pitch in Castlebay.
With the recent consultation with young people taken place, in regards to ideas and suggestions to help celebrate Year of the Young People 2018, a youth committee has been established which has young people aged 9-21 yrs on board. This youth committee is made up of representatives from the Youth LAG group, Youth council and also includes an Ambassador for year of the young people and an Ambassador for Volunteering. This youth committee will be the heart of helping make a difference in the community and their involvement in decision making and helping with events will give them many life skills along the way including time management, business skills, admin, Finance keeping, communication and team work. These initiatives would be driven forward by the Co-ordinator’s post in conjunction with the youth committee.
